Proverbs 1:7-8  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.  My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

The power of God is the power of wisdom. Without God we are nothing and we have nothing. Without God you would not exist in this world today. You may claim to be a product of your parents, but it is God who made you a living soul and gave you a body to live in.

If you are saved and know Christ as your Saviour it is the power of God that saved you. That life that you now live in Christ is given by the power of God the Holy Spirit who literally dwells within your soul. You are kept safe in Christ Jesus by the power of God for ever.

You are saved to the uttermost which means you are as saved as saved can possibly be and you are saved all the way as for as you can go; it is the gift of eternal life. Eternal means it reaches into the farthest reaches of eternity which has no beginning or end; it is infinite. Eternal life begins at the moment of salvation and is the infinite existence of every born again soul beyond the experience of the death of the physical body.

The power of wisdom is the fear of the LORD our God. The word translated “fear” refers the reverence that is given to the LORD. This is the beginning of knowledge which is what wisdom is built upon. Those who reject the knowledge of a holy Creator, the God of the universe, the God of all that is living and life, are “fools”.

The word “fools” here means perverse; they are twisted and distorted in their thinking because they refuse and reject true wisdom. The foolishness of rejecting God has caused man to create his own beginnings through the perverse teachings of evolution which corrupts all of modern public education. It leaves students without the knowledge of or a fear of Jehovah God. Only by reverencing and respecting the Majesty of the Almighty Infinite God of all Creation can true education and knowledge be developed.

They also despise “instruction” which in this verse is speaking of the chastening, correcting, and reproof of the Lord to instill discipline. In many families today there is such a degrading of moral and godly principle that most children do not receive proper godly instruction from their parents about the issues of life. They lack the proper knowledge and experiences to give them the wisdom they need to live right. They do not have the discipline, the obedience, or the principle of righteousness instilled in them because it is lacking in their preceding generations.

We as Christians are to spread the Gospel and bring others to Christ and get them baptized. But it does not stop there. You must spend time with that person to help them learn the ways of Christianity. You must instruct them in the things of God’s Word. You must instill within that person knowledge, discipline, obedience, and the principle of righteousness. You must be the mentor or “spiritual parent” that they need to train them up in the way that they should live.

Learn it, love it, live it, and then go out and give it. –Preacher
